Certificate Program
| This program offers two certificates: a Primary Certificate in Botanical Art, and a Master-Class Certificate in Botanical Art. | ||
| Primary Certificate In Botanical Art: | ||
| The primary certificate program offers a concentrated study in the specialization of botanical art and illustration. The program is professional in that it is directly focused on teaching the skills needed to accurately illustrate plant specimens. The Primary Certificate in Botanical Art is awarded upon the completion of 14 required courses, four elective courses, and an independent study project. Completion of this program will require two or more years, but must be completed within five years, Classes must be take in sequence determined by prerequisites. | ||

| Independent Study Project | ||
| An independent study project on a subject determined by the student must be completed and presented to an instructor for review. For example, students may wish to select a specific species or locale to study and complete several related illustrations. Guidelines for the independent study project will be provided. | ||
| Portfolio Review | ||
| The student must complete a portfolio of work that will serve to record growth and achievements. This portfolio is to include a simple line drawing in pencil, a continuous tone drawing, a pen and ink illustration, colored pencil drawing, watercolor painting, botanical plate in the medium of your choice, four illustrations from the elective courses of your choice, and a sketchbook that includes notes and sketches from classes. A panel of instructors will review this portfolio. The certificate will be awarded based on the quality of work completed. | ||
| Master-Class Certificate In Botanical Art | ||
| The school offers up to two master-class workshops each year, bringing in the most talented artists in the field to conduct these workshops. The master-class certificate in botanical art will only be awarded to students who have completed the Minnesota School Of Botanical Art primary certificate program. Such students will receive priority placemen in these workshops. Others will be admitted as space is available. To complete the master-class certificate in botanical art students must attend a minimum of four master-class workshops and present a portfolio of completed projects based on these workshops. | ||
